My last home was in Vermont, a wonderful rural state where I lived for many years. Winter in Vermont is beautiful, and white with snow. To leave there in winter and arrive here is like entering Oz, when the black and white movie becomes technicolor. Houses here are bright yellows, pinks and brilliant blues. Stores are decorated with hand painted signs and murals. Even while shopping for food the mangoes, papayas, bananas are lovely in their hues. The rain forest climate in this area is green year round. Trees will shed their leaves but then suddenly have pink, orange and yellow flowers. Bushes have leaves and flowers in bright pinks, oranges and yellows. The blue morpho butterfly is a color that pigment cannot replicate. Honey creepers (birds) have red legs and blue bodies, blue jean frogs have red bodies and blue legs, and then there are toucans, parrots and more! I feel fortunate to have found myself here in Costa Rica with the freedom to pursue what interests me. My recent paintings are inspired by the beauty of the natural world that surrounds me.
